A Spoken Word Poet, Writer, and Model.

*I'm editing this space, please excuse as it is being outdated!*

I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember and am privileged to have turned my passion into my life’s work. Please take the time to peruse my official Poetry Portfolio to understand my work and influences.

A 21-year-old Queens-born spoken word poet and model, that resided in Trinidad and Tobago before she returned in 2018 to be a now Junior at York College.

Camryn is the 2018-2019 NYC Youth Poet Laureate, the Trinidad and Tobago First Citizens National Poetry Slam Champion of 2017 and the Ms. Tobago Heritage Personality Queen of 2017.

She is internationally recognized as she performs at various festivals in the Caribbean and she is a two- time participant of the Brave New Voices International Poetry Festival.

Her poems usually explore social issues that affect youths and is passionate about Youth development.  She identifies as an especially vocal advocate in both her work and writing for the rights of women, people of color and other historically marginalized groups. She is the author of the book, Queen Bee Cavity, Which is available right now!

‘Camryn Bruno is an exceptional young woman and Spoken Word artist. I especially admire the research she puts into each of her topics before composition. I am also inspired by her memorization skills, the short time-frame in which she commits lengthy pieces to memory. Camryn is the true definition of a Spoken Word artist; her subject matters are always matters, that matter. She has proven herself to herself and to the world that she is a force to be reckoned with and respected, she certainly has my respect and deep admiration.’

Rodney Piggott, Tobago Writers Guild

I first encountered Camryn back in 2014 and from Jump Street you could tell that the field of spoken word would have been her forte. This was evident, since she displayed certain facets of being a top performer even at that early stage. I fully appreciate how Camryn evolved to now being one of the top female poets in the country to carry this new generation forward. Even at her young age, she looks at ways to encourage, develop and promote Spoken Word among her fellow peers. This was evident where she hosted various little workshops in Bishops High School and even invited me to conduct a session. The skies the limit for Camryn, this gifted young lady coming from Mason Hall, Tobago has already etched her name in annals of history.
